Olympiads & NTSE
Long before the high-stakes years, olympiads and talent-search exams give a young student their first taste of thinking beyond the textbook. They are where exam temperament is quietly built — and where a Class 8 or 9 student first discovers how far their ability can reach.
Who can appear
Olympiads such as the National Science Olympiad (NSO) and International Mathematics Olympiad (IMO) run from the early school grades upward, through the student's own school. The National Talent Search Examination (NTSE) is written in Class 10, in two stages — a state-level test followed by a national one.

A note on this track
KVPY, once part of this track, was discontinued in 2022 and merged into the INSPIRE scheme — so it is not listed here as a live exam.
