The national picture, in context
About 27% of Indian students take private coaching — 30.7% in cities against 25.5% in villages — and urban families spend roughly ₹3,988 a year per child on it, rising to about ₹9,950 at the higher-secondary stage. (Government of India survey, 2025.) Kota alone drew around 1.2 lakh students in 2024, down from a peak near 2 lakh — each family paying for hostel, mess and coaching far from home. (Industry estimates, 2024–25.) This is the cost, the distance and the pressure that SIP removes — the numbers make the argument for us.
